All Dressed Up

Party Frock

I was really excited, when I found out that All Dressed Up was going to be the sponsor for this challenge at Crafting for All Seasons. I wanted to work on their Party Frock image.

Party Frock is colored with Prismacolor Pencils and a bit of silver Gelly Roll pen. I used a number of digikit pieces and merged the image with them in the Craft Artist 2 program.

I hope you are inspired and plan to display your work and maybe earn some new images stamps at Crafting for All Seasons, where the current challenge theme is All Dressed Up.

Oh, How We Danced

Argentine Tango Silhouette

Delicious Doodles is the current sponsor of Crafting from the Heart. Artist Teri Sherman has provided a vast amount of detailed digital images, but I was looking for something a bit different and found the Argentine Tango Silhouette. The simple silhouette paired off with a gold print background from the Indie Chic digikit, only needed the correct wording to invoke a feeling of longing for those dances of the past.

The image, background and words were all merged in the Craft Artist 2 program.
I hope my card will inspire you to enter your own creation in the Crafting from the Heart challenge, where anything goes.

Ballerina

Cute Little Ballerina
Stitchy Bear

Beach Baby
The Stamping Boutique

I love the ballet, especially when I get to watch my beautiful granddaughter dance. She'll be 15 years old shortly and is in her first year of high school. Last summer she stayed in Manhattan and attended a two week intensive dance program with the Joffrey Ballet Company. What an exciting time to be a young girl from a small town in Florida.
My granddaughter, photo by Sandy Brooke
In honor of this young lady, I designed a dance birthday card using the Stitchy Bear image "Cute Little Ballerina." Stitchy Bear is one of  the sponsors of the Simply Papercraft challenge, where anything goes.

I colored the ballerina with Prismacolor Pencils and used a blender marker on her skirt. I also colored the stage image from Make it Crafty with Prismacolor Pencils and a metallic Gelly Roll pen. I merged the stage and the ballerina with a background from the Pin Up Starlets digikit in the Craft Artist 2 program.

For my second card I would like to introducing Beach Baby by The Stamping Boutique, my choice for an image on my DT inspirational card. The Stamping Boutique is also a current sponsor at Simply Papercraft.

Beach Baby was colored with Derwent Colorsoft Pencils. There were clouds, sand and a sea to use with the stamp, but it was my choice to use only the girl and the sand castle. I combined the colored image with a background created by my husband Sandy Brooke, using the Craft Artist 2 program.

I hope you are inspired and will share you own work at the Simply Papercraft challenge, where anything goes.

A Xmas Poodle

Christmas Gift Poodle
Sami Stamps
Introducing the Christmas Gift Poodle image by Sami Stamps. The poodle is the symbol from the 1950s that was all the rage decorating girls' skirts. It went with jukeboxes and saddle shoes and now it goes with modern design.

I used Prismacolor Pencils to color the poodle in several shades of pink and a metallic pencils for the top of the ornament. The background is from the Craft Artist 2 program.

Sami Stamps is the current sponsor of A Snowflakes Promise Challenge, where you can share your holiday cards.

New Watercolor Pencils Blend with the Old!

DeeDee's Digis, Bloom and Grow
Isn't getting new art supplies exciting! I can't wait to see what they all can do! I have new Faber-Castell, Albrecht Durer Watercolor Pencils! I do own an 8 pencil set of Faber-Castell basic watercolor pencils and now I have 12 more. For this project, I combined the 2 sets. The pink is ECO Aquarela #028 nd I used Deep Scarlet Red #8200-219 to blend the two for the darks and lights. The leaf was done in ECO Aquarela green #063, emerald green #8200-163 nd  bit of cadmium yellow #820-107 to add some additional light on the leaf. As you can see the two sets complement each other.

Additional Materials:
Water container
Water brush
White card stock
Printer
Solid colored card stock
Print card stock
Scissor
Craft glue
Card base

For the card, I follow the same mounting procedure at my recent watercolor tutorial.
1)  Cut around the flower leaving a white border.
2)  Glue to a print card stock.
3)  Cut around the flower leaving a print border.

Gelatos and a Stencil

Here's another quick and easy art project for Gelatos by Faber-Castell.

Supplies:

Gelatos: Green Tea, Cotton Candy
Stencil
Make-up sponges
Tombow Adhesive
White Card stock

I used a bit of adhesive to hold the small stencil in place. I followed that with alternating green and blue Gelatos. I colored straight across the stencil, trying to cover the spaces in the stencil with the colors, overlapping the previous color slightly. Then I used the sponges, one for each color, to blend the colors into each space. I lifted the stencil carefully off the art work and if there is a bit of adhesive left on the art work, I used  tweezers to remove it.

This small piece could easily become the focal point on a card. Larger stencils are available and would work very nicely with several colors in a rainbow effect, for a scrapbook page.

Thanks for visiting my blog and come again soon!

Mini Butterfly Canvas

I got to play with my Faber-Castell Gelatos on a mini art canvas that came with a small art set, given to me for my birthday. I made a mini piece of art!

Supplies:
Gelatos: Lemon, Red Cherry and Tangerine
Mini Canvas
Paint Brush
Water
Glue
Small die cut paper Butterflies
Red Rubber stamp butterfly
PITT Artist Pen Big Brush Light Cobalt Turquoise #154

I colored a striped background across the min canvas using each color of the Gelatos. I followed that with a wet paint brush blending the Gelatos across. After the stripes were dry I colored on the butterfly stamp with the PITT Pen and stamped the butterfly at an angle on to the canvas. I glued the small white butterflies to the canvas.

Come back often and see what I do next with my new art supplies!

Happy Halloween!

Batty Boo

Deedee's Digis
When I was a kid Halloween was so much fun. I loved designing my own costumes and going door to door with a bunch of kids. When my boys were old enough, I never bought costumes for the, I made beautiful one including a race car driver, clown and a cowboy to name just a few.

To celebrate this fun time, I chose the Batty Boo images from Deedee's Digis for my inspirational design team card. Deedee's Digis is the current sponsor of the Crafty Girlz Challenges. Batty boo came with both pre-colored and line drawn images. I chose a pre-colored image and merged it with pieces from the Spooktacular digikit in the Craft Artist 2 program.

i hope you will be inspired to share your work with us at Crafty Girlz, where anything goes.

Defend the Castle

Knight Reggie
Lacy Sunshine
Introducing Knight Reggie by Lacy Sunshine, our current sponsor of the challenge at Crafting from the Heart. Isn't he adorable? Knight Reggie comes with a wall behind him, but since I was using a whole castle, the wall wasn't needed.

Knight Reggie was colored with Prismacolor Pencils, Gelly Roll Pens and a Sharpie Ultra Fine Point Marker. I merged the colored image with pieces from several digikits in the Craft Artist 2 program.

I hope my work will inspire you to join the challenge at Crafting From the Heart, where anything goes.

New Design for the Mari Digi Challenge #007

I worked on this gorgeous young lady in this card above to participate in the challenge #007-blog sketch Mari Digi Challenge

The purpose of the challenge is to follow this sketch:
The sketch is a guide to inspire and from it, you can make small changes. The lovely stamp was colored using Faber-Castell Polychromos. The colored image was then put in the Craft Artist 2 program where I merged it with  number of bits and pieces from digikits using the sketch as my guide.

I hope you enjoy this card as much as I did designing it and following the sketch.

Dress for Success

Snowy Hipster
SLS Lines
The current sponsor of A Snowflakes Promise is SLS Lines. I chose Snowy Hipster for the image on my inspirational card, which I colored using Coloursoft Pencils and a Gelly roll metallic pen. The colored image was merged with a background made from parts of the Craftscapes Manhattan Winter digikit in the Craft Artist 2 program.

I hope my card will help to interest you in participating in the challenge at A Snowflakes Promise where the themes are winter or the holiday season.

What's Your Style?

For fun because I love coloring with my Faber-Castell Polychromos, I decided to find a couple of images from different artist and from different eras. Here's a girl from the 1960s by Mari Digis. Did you wear your hair in the flip or put on a full skirt and heels?

This is a colorful punk girl by Lemon Shortbread. Besides Polychomos, she has jewelry colored with metallic Gelly Roll pens. When was the last time you wore striped tights and tennis shoes with a skirt?

Just a fun look at art, style and fashion's ever changing journey!

A Crafter's Introduction to Watercolor Pencils

I have a small set of 8 Faber-Castell watercolor pencils. They are just enough to give you an introduction to the art of watercolor pencils.

Additional Materials:
Water container
Water brush
White card stock
Printer
Solid colored card stock
Print card stock
Scissor
Craft glue
Card base

1) Print a floral image on card stock. I used a flower from the Bloom and Grow set designed by DeeDee's Digis.
2) Beginning in the flower center color in the spaces using an oval motion. Overlap slightly as you cover the surface. Use a light to medium pressure on the pencil depending on how intense you want the color. Colors furthest away or coming from under the edge will be darkest. Placing one color above the other will blend with water, such as the orange and yellow. To lighten the leaves, I dragged the color and wiped my water brush across the yellow pencil point. The black was placed on the center after the blue was dry, so it would not blend.

3) Cute around the flower leaving a small white border.

4) Glue to a print card stock.
5) Cut around the flower leaving a print border.

6) Glue solid card stock to white card base.
7) Glue flower to card.
